Decisions
I want to share a verse that Dan and I have discussed in determining whether or not to share this blog with you. I began listening to the podcast Joy + Infertility and it has already opened a door for better conversations between us about this difficult time.
When I first started writing, I wrote with the intent of sharing our story. However, as I started getting things out into writing, I retreated a little. It felt so good to get things off my chest, but I decided maybe it was enough to just have them in writing. I didn't need to share with anyone.
Then, as I listened to the podcast and did reading of my own, I started realizing that I don't keep this to myself. There are a select few close friends who we have shared this journey with along the way. The podcast specifically talked about how sharing with friends doesn't mean sharing to social media.
Dan and I talked about the pros and cons of sharing the journey publicly as well. We talked about how we have already benefited from others being willing to share their stories. We also discussed how it opens us up to being so vulnerable. We know we need to extend grace to those who don't understand things that might be hurtful, but that can be so much harder to do when you've shared something so personal.
Then we came across 2 Corinthians 12:9 in Caley Porter's podcast - "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." This verse comes from Paul's letter to Corinth where he is talking about using human "weakness" is an opportunity to show God's power. Caley and Libby Myrin discussed this in Episode 2 - sharing our story is an opportunity for others to see the miracles of God.
We know that God is faithful, and we are praying for a baby. We want you to join us in prayer because we know there is power in prayer. When our baby does come, we pray that it is an opportunity for others to see that it is a miracle baby and an answer to prayer. If we don't share our story, others won't see what a miracle it truly is.
Please comment and let us know if you are praying for our baby. We know so many people already are, and we can't wait to one day share with our child how loved they were before they existed.
